Too often stress is seen as a way of life - a necessary evil for getting what we want from life or getting through the ups and downs of life.

  • Stress affects your health. Stress contributes to 75-90% of medical conditions including the six leading causes of death.
  • Stress affects your work. Stress costs companies over $300 billion a year in health care costs, absenteeism, and poor performance. 40% of job turnover is due to stress.
  • Stress affects your relationship with yourself and others. Divorced people have 20% more stress related chronic health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or cancer than married people.
  • Children are particularly prone to stress post-divorce and are more likely to experience depression or anxiety than peers whose parents are still married.

What is “out there” doesn’t cause stress. Stress is an inside job brought on by our interpretation of situations or events. It isn’t our experiences that cause stress but rather our subconscious beliefs about the experience.  The truth is, we hold the painter’s palette and can paint our experiences any way we choose!
